I've always loved taking photos, even when I was a small child. Pictures have a quality of capturing what words can not. They help us bridge between what we want to say and what we experience. They can take us to new places. They can help us remember old places. They can teach us about things we have once seen or will someday see - or may never see.
Being a New Englander, I find myself deeply attracted to some of the more special elements of the east coast: Cape Cod and the ocean and the Boston Red Sox. If you have never been to Fenway Park, you are truly missing a special experience. It is the type of place that just oozes history and is unlike any ball park I've been to anywhere else - and we've been to a few. We're the type of family that will see a ball game on vacation just to experience the ball park.
Cape Cod isn't my favorite vacation spot but visiting the ocean always is. The sights, sounds, smells are mesmerizing. I particularly love watching the etchings left behind by the water. To me, a perfect picture of an ocean will allow you to hear the sound - almost like a shell is against your ear. Plus, I can't think of a better family outing than a beach setting. There is always something for everyone and those moments are easy to capture on film.
So, enjoy these pics and have fun sending them to your family and friends. Check back soon because I hope to add other favorite in and about New England and from vacations. As you'll learn, I have a thing about building topics - next time you are in a city - look up and just check out the skyline way up high against the clouds. I promise you will never think of landscape of a city the same way again! And, of course, there are the every day moments of life - birds, trees, snow. If you've never experimented with pictures, grab yourself a digital camera and give it a whirl. What's cool is you can do a lot with point and shoot - that's what I used for these pics!
But, until then, the ocean and Sox will have to do!
