This dress is shown on one of my Ginnie dolls, it will also fit 7 to 8 inch Madame Alexander dolls, or 8 inch dolls available at craft stores.

The dress is made with white yarn and red crochet cotton. I used Aunt Lydia's Classic Crochet Thread, size 10, in Victory Red; and Red Heart worsted yarn in Soft White. I can't tell you how much of each I used, because it was what was left over from other projects, but it wasn't much of either one.

You will also need two crochet hooks, one size J (10 or 6 mm) for the yarn; and one size 6 steel hook for the edging.

SC= single crochet
DC= double crochet
HDC= half double crochet
Rnd= round
Ch= chain
St= stitch
Sl St- slip stitch
Start with white yarn and size J hook and chain 7, join with a sl st to form a round. Ch 1 and do not turn, in this Rnd or any other.

Rnd 1 14 single crochet around circle. Join with sl st to first SC. Ch 1

Rnd 2 Sc in first Sc and in each around. Join with sl st to first Sc. Ch 1.

Rnd 3 and 4 Repeat Rnd 2. At end of Rnd 4 ch 4 (first Sc and ch 3 space.)

Rnd 5 *Skip next Sc, Sc in next Sc, ch 3* repeat from * around. 7 ch 3 spaces. Ch 2, first HDC.

Rnd 6 Work 5 DC in first ch 3 space, HDC in same space. *(HDC,5 DC, Hdc) in next ch 3 space.* Repeat from *around. Join with sl st in first HDC. CH 2.

Rnd 7 DC in next Dc, repeat 4 more times, HDC in next HDC. *HDC in next HDC, DC in each of next 5 DC, HDC in next HDC* repeat from * around. Join with sl st, ch 2.

Rnd 8 Repeat Rnd 7. Bind off and weave in yarn ends.

Rnd 9 Attach red thread at center back (where rounds began and ended.) Sc in top of first HDC from previous rnd, ch 4, *sc in next st, ch 4* repeat around. Join with sl st. Ch 2 (First HDC made.)

Rnd 10 5 DC in same ch 4 space, HDC in same space. *HDC, 5 DC, HDC in next ch 4 space.* Continue from * around. Join with sl st to first HDC, bind off and weave in end of thread.

Top trim Rnd 1 Attach red thread to top of dress at center back. Ch 1, SC in first SC, * ch 3, SC in next SC*. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st in first SC, Ch 2. First HDC made.

Rnd 2 Repeat rnd 10 of dress bottom.

Cut 12 inch piece of red, 1/4 inch wide satin ribbon and weave in through ch 3 spaces at waist of dress, starting and ending at center front. Tie in a bow.
