Conquer Diabetes Call-In
Did you know you can make a difference by just one phone call? Yes, you have a voice in U.S. Government and your voice needs to be heard regarding funding and other health issues.
The American Diabetes Association will have Advocates in Washington D.C. on Thursday, June 8th. Call your legislator and President to let them know how you feel on what is happening. During the day Diabetes Advocates will be meeting legislators personally to press for higher funding and other major issues regarding Diabetes. Diabetes is a major killer in the United States and our Senators and Representatives need to know about consequences of Diabetes.
You can call toll free at 866-419-7500 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m EST. When you call be sure to urge the House and Senate to support legislation for research and prevention funding. Tell them that 1 in 3 children born in 2000 will be diagnosed with Diabetes. Let them know Diabetes kills over 200,000 people a year with diabetes related health issues.
Remember your voice will join thousands who are participating with one on one meetings with legislators and your calls will only emphasize how dangerous Diabetes can be. You are the one voice who had power over who is in office. Your voice needs to be heard as funding for Diabetes research has been drastically cut.
Diabetics need increased funding for Diabetes research and funding. Improved health care and insurance coverage for those diagnosed with Diabetes. Unfair discrimination against Diabetics needs to be stopped. Let them know 20.8 million Americans have diabetes. 41 million Americans have Pre-Diabetes.13.3% of African-Americans have Diabetes. 20.9% Americans over 60 have Diabetes. $132 billion is the cost of Diabetes to the USA. $120 million is needed to fund Diabetes programs in the US.
