I Would Rather Be A Mother...

I Would Rather Be A Mother...

I'D RATHER BE A MOTHER...

I'd rather be a Mother ...
than anyone on earth

Bringing up a child or two ...
of unpretentious birth

I'd rather nurse a rosy babe ...
with warm lips on my breast

Than wear a queen's medallion ...
above a heart less blessed.

I'd rather tuck a little child ...
all safe and sound in bed

Than twine a chain of diamonds ...
about my foolish head.

I'd rather wash a smudgy face ...
with round, bright baby eyes,

Than paint the pageantry of fame ...
or walk among the wise.

WHAT ARE PARENTS?

They are the wonderful people who give just so much,
and who bring joy to the lives that they touch.

They are the two special people who are willing to share.
Who are never too busy to listen and care.

They're the ones who encourage and patiently guide.
Who think of their children with enormous pride.

And because their devotion and loving is true
their family ties last a whole lifetime through.
