Backnbloom Review
The alternative electro-pop sound of Backnbloom showcases a sleek mix of nostalgic, well-read pop with harmonious, yet complex layers, grooving rhythms and a sprinkling of electric violin. Describing their sound as “Efficacious Poetic Fervor,†Backnbloom ensures energetically, eclectic shows and equally invigorating music.
Hailing from Venice, California, the members of Backnbloom include Lori Steele (vocals, violin, toms), and Alberto Beka (guitar, programmer, engineer). The duo's effective songwriting with a high-energy, dance-pop delivery is well captured through their debut album titled "Music For The Modern Monkey." The album contains sonic overdubbing and mixing touches that are packed to the brim with teasers that lunge at you from every direction. There’s definitely not a dull moment on the entire production! The band's melodic layering is deep, the sonic ambience is infectious, and the music is rocking and easily considered candy to your ears. Backnbloom's hit single, "Heed the Flashes," is mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers) and is featured on the debut album. From the mesmerizing songs titled “The Feel†and “Venice†to the hypnotic “Empty Spaces†and “Flicker,†all the way to the rocking “King of the Radio,†this CD has something for just about every music fan. The CD ends with a remix of “Hollywood Blvd†which is the perfect finale for a CD and rising band in the electro-pop genre.
Backnbloom's musical influences include Zero 7, Postal Service, Imogen Heap, Metric, The Bird and the Bee, Muse, Radiohead, Dolores O'Riordan, Brazilian Girls, and La Roux - just to name a few! The duo has been compared to the likes of musical greats MGMT, and after their first show at an acclaimed club on the Sunset Strip and multiple licensing deals (such as CBS, MTV, VH1, ESPN.com, and Bunim-Murray), Backnbloom is currently planted firmly on solid ground and are definitely on their way to the top!
