Your “to-do” list is an ongoing process. If you’re waiting for your life to “turn out” once you get everything done, don’t wait. The fact is, you’re never going to get it all done. And that’s not a negative. There’s just always going to be something else to do, especially if you’re living your life with zest and vigor.
When you play the game of life enthusiastically, it only stands to reason that you’ll still have plenty of moves left on the board when your name gets called up yonder. And that’s okay. You win the game of life by just playing for the joy of it, not by completing your “to-do” list.
Time management is essential to anyone’s success and a prioritized to-do list is a powerful tool. It keeps you focused and on purpose and empowers you to produce exciting and fun results. But, getting things done should be rewarding and satisfying - or what’s the point? Its purpose is certainly not to make you an obsessive slave to your projects.
Your to-do list is only a guideline to help you achieve goals for your own personal happiness and satisfaction. If success makes you happy, then go for it! But always keep a finger on your feeling pulse to make sure you’re enjoying your life in the process. Remember, happiness is found along the way, not at the end of the road.
Of course, in order to achieve the things we want - those things that bring happiness – we all have to do things we don’t “feel” like doing. It’s a delicate balance.
And the way to maintain the balance is by aiming for an overall feeling of joy while you check things off your to-do list. But, realize you’ll never get it all done. And that’s a good thing.
