Prayer Starters for Busy Moms Book Review
The apostle Paul tells us to pray unceasingly, pray constantly or continually, without ceasing or pray all the time, depending on which Bible translation you are using. (1 Thessalonians 5:17 ) I’ve tried it. It isn’t easy. I start out with the best of intentions but soon distractions and disturbances get in the way and my mind is going off in a thousand different directions. Many are far from prayerful.
This little book, "Prayer Starters for Busy Moms" (how to pray all day and still put the laundry away)by Tracy Kehn, contains 365 suggestions for praying. It covers virtually every situation you may find yourself in during your day. I started by going through the book from start to finish, reading a few prayer starters each day. Then I changed my technique and picked it up at odd times during the day and opened it in various chapters to see what suggestions were there. Everywhere I turned in the book, I found inspiring and practical suggestions, Scripture passages and short meditative stories. They had me remembering to pray and even praying without thinking about my duty to pray. The book is full of good ideas. Some of them I remembered thinking about long ago and now wondered why I had forgotten to put them into practice. Thanks to this handy daily reminder, I’m getting back on track.
I am a visual person. I love pretty things, so Prayer Starters is particularly appealing to me. It is small enough to fit easily on my desk, nightstand, coffee table or the car seat – always available to pick up when I have a moment. It has wonderful illustrations in beautiful peaceful colors and an attached ribbon to mark my place.
Pick up this book everyday and sincerely put these suggestions into practice, and I think it will change your life.
