Jessica Simpson bust out in her first major acting role as the movie incarnation of TV sex symbol Daisy Duke in 2005's Dukes of Hazzard. Now it looks as though the budding actress might step into a role made famous by another blonde bombshell.

Talk around town is that Simpson has locked down the role of Casey Jean "C.J." Parker in the big-screen adaptation of the classic "Baywatch" TV series. Parker was played on the show by Pamela Anderson, and it was the role that catapulted her into stardom.

While Simpson seems to have the physical attributes to fill Anderson's one-piece, one has to wonder if taking on another tv-to-film sex kitten role is a wise choice for the entertainer. Yet, from her days on the MTV show "Newlyweds" to now, Simpson has perfected the persona of the ditzy hot blonde, so maybe she doesn't want to step outside her career comfort zone.

It's also interesting to note that Simpson, 25, is the same age now that Anderson was when she was signed to the show in 1992.

Producers of the movie are hoping that now that they have Simpson on board, they might persuade original Baywatch castmember David Hasselhoff, 53, to reprise his role of Lt. Mitch Buchannon.

In the meantime, Simpson is currently filming the comedy Employee of the Month with Dane Cook, Andy Dick and Dax Shepard.
