Teen Pregnancy on One Life to Live
Young teens in love, Cole and Starr, took their relationship to the next level a few weeks ago and are now facing an unexpected consequence to their actions. Unfortunately, the two didn't practice safe sex and didn't use any protection.
When Todd Manning informed Starr that he was moving the entire family to Hawaii permanently, Starr sought out Cole for one last moment together. The first-time lovers met at Langston’s house, but they were interrupted and caught in bed by Todd. The angry father proceeded to beat up Cole and nearly killed him. Although Starr insisted that the twosome hadn’t had sex, her recent positive pregnancy test tells a different story.
Starr confided in her best friend, Langston, but no one else is aware she’s pregnant, not even Cole. Todd has been keeping Starr on a tight leash and has forbidden the teens from spending any time together. He began home schooling her, but recently has allowed her to return to high school with strict orders to stay away from Cole.
This isn’t quite Romeo and Juliet, but star-crossed lovers Starr Manning and Cole Thornhart have been forced to live with the repercussions of their feuding families. In fact, when they first became friends, they had no idea such bad blood existed between their two families. While in college, Todd, along with two of his frat brothers, was convicted of raping Cole’s mother during a frat party. He was later exonerated, but the damage between Todd and Marty always remained. Starr’s mother & Cole’s father also had a history together and the teens share a deceased half-brother. Even with all the animosity between their families, they were permitted to date each other, although Todd was never happy about it.
Starr has been checking out all her options about the pregnancy, including abortion. She is determined to have the procedure done before her family, especially her father, finds out.
Stay tuned this week when Todd makes a mad dash to the abortion clinic to stop Starr from having the procedure. We’ll have to wait and see if he makes it in time…
FYI: Kristen Alderson, the actress who plays Starr, is now writing a personal blog for ABC. She is writing it based on her perspective as a teenager and sharing her thoughts on the pregnancy storyline. For more information, check out the link below:
