A Wedding with Dora the Explorer
Dora the Explorer is in a wedding! And, of course, although it’s not her wedding, somehow she manages to steal the show… but in a good way.
Valentine’s Day featured the newest Dora the Explorer special: The Grumpy Old Troll Gets Married! You remember the Grumpy Old Troll (who lives under the bridge- hey!)? Well, apparently he’s found himself a bride- which leads me to think that either he’s not really that grumpy and it’s all an act, or his new wife is full crayon short of a box full. I mean, on some episodes, especially the earlier ones, he seemed a little more than grumpy- you could even say he was somewhat mean. Later episodes seemed to emphasize grumpy over mean, and he became more like his name. Either way, it’s odd that he’d be the one getting married, but everybody deserves a happy ending, right?
So anyway, on his wedding day, The Grumpy Old Troll realizes that he’s forgotten the rings. Apparently he left them at his grandma’s house. It’s up to Dora to go to his grandma’s house and bring the rings back in time, or his wife to be, Petunia, will be sorely disappointed. Of course Dora would never let that happen, and she’s always ready to help a friend, so off she goes with Boots to get the rings.
To get to grandma’s house, Dora has to do the “Troll’s Happy Dance” to make it across the Flowery Garden and count with the Wedding Bells. This episode will have your little one dancing and counting in no time. Lastly, upon arriving at Grandma’s house, Dora has to find the rings so she can bring them back to the troll.
In true Dora the Explorer style, she overcomes all of the obstacles and saves the day! The Troll and Petunia get married, and everyone has a wonderful time. Somehow, this grumpy old troll manages to pull it together for the wedding, which I’m sure his bride was thankful for. Hopefully though, his personality won’t change too much- I kind of like that bridge song, and the “Happy Old Troll” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
There are many opportunities to catch this episode- check it out with your little one soon!
