Strength
"You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice."
I decided to go for one quote today that I saw someone had recently put as their 'facebook status'
A lot of people turn to facebook and other social networking sites in order to express quotes, often from songs or lyrics, that show others that it means a lot to them, and tells them about their lives.
This quote obviously meant something to the person that posted it, but I decided to use it for an article as I felt it had a lot of meaning for me too.
Internal strength is hard to measure, especially if you compare it to physical strength. I believe that we tend to compare our internal strength to others around us, comparing how other people cope with things in their life that they have too. However this can sometimes become negative as if we know someone who is dealing with a lot in their life and they deal with it and manage to move on, we might reflect on our own strength and think that is something we would be unable to do. The interesting thing about this quote is that it begins to explain why this can happen.
Strength is something that I believe we do not know that we have until we have to use it. When we have to begin to deal with harder things in our life, that we haven't had to deal with before, our strength will grow in order to get ourselves through it, and it is only at these tough times will we realize that we too have the strength inside us to get through it. We will end up resorting to our strength in order to help us through these tough times instead of thinking we are unable to do it.
It is these situations and feelings that make us stronger as a person, throughout life. Which is why they have sayings such as getting stronger as we get older, because we have learnt to deal with more things and realize we are able to do it.
I found it interesting also that someone decided to share this quote as it also begins to show the realization of this person that they realized that they did find this strength, when it was their only option and it is this realization which will help them get through other tough times in their life.
