*I purchased my copy of Strengths Finder 2.0 from Amazon.com.
StrengthsFinder 2.0, by Tom Rath, is designed to help you identify “your natural talents” thus, positioning yourself, within your career, to be the most efficient YOU, you can be. With a timed online questionnaire that gives you instant results, Strengths Finder 2.0 offers insight to where you fit within your work or educational group and why you operate the way you do. It provides an understanding to your stronger qualities. Thus, allowing you to focus your attention on your strengths and enhance your career or life by utilizing these positives.
Most of the book is broken into themes of strengths. It’s sort of like an astrology book of your strengths. Each strength's theme is given a definition and some examples of personalities that fit the criteria. There is also an “Ideas for Action” section, for each strength's theme. This section is designed to provide ideas on how to use your strengths to improve your experiences and how to work with other personalities within a group.
The better points of this book exist in its ability to help you understand your stronger traits or characteristics. It makes a point to inform you that your strengths, versus your weaknesses, are truly worth valuing.
Meanwhile, Strengths Finder 2.0 does not meet my expectations of offering direction as to what you should really do with the knowledge of your strengths. I was hoping it would point readers in the direction of a career path and/or a passion statement. Alas, it does not. You will best utilize the information in this book if you already have a clue to where your passions or purpose lie. If you already have a career that you are simply hoping to excel in, or you know what you want to do in life, this book will provide clues as to what positioning will work best for you as you move forward.
Strengths Finder 2.0 is a follow-up to the original Strengths Finder which was found inside "the 2001 management book Now, Discover Your Strengths." The 2.0 version is said to be improved with its website and online questionnaire that allows you to get answers instantly. When using this questionnaire remember to use the answer that best fits what first comes to mind. Too long a delay will result in the program moving on without an answer from you.
StrengthsFinder 2.0 (also available on Kindle) is a great start to getting to know who you are. It helps you focus on what you are naturally best at thus, inspiring you to get a grasp on how to enhance these gifts and allow them to make you more successful in your relationships and productivity.
