The 2006 Santa Barbara Film Festival runs from February 2nd through Feburary 12, 2006. Mozart and the Whale will be showing on Saturday, Feb 4th, Monday, February 6th and Saturday, February 11, 2006.

Mozart and the Whale was inspired by Jerry and Mary Newport. It is touted as a dramatic, romantic comedy with the characters of Donald and Isabelle. The book is due out in January of 2007.

An interesting note is that Jerry and Mary divorced and then remarried. Jerry is the founder of the support group here in Los Angeles known as AGUA - Adult Gathering, United and Autistic. There are also groups in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona

In 2001 Jerry wrote the book, Your Life is Not a Label: A Guide to Living Fully with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome. I have the book and have read most of it. I would suggest parents read it before giving it to an AS teen to peruse as the subject of sex does come up.
