Brandon McHose Review
With his rock, blues and jazz-infused sounds, Brandon McHose has been called a “guitar wizard” and is one of the lucky few to be able to be called a singer/songwriter along with his musical talent.
Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, Brandon was introduced to the guitar by his father and was quickly exposed to legendary recording artists, such as the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who. After obtaining a full scholarship to Drake University through his track and field talent, he soon came to the realization that his true love and passion was in music and therefore made the decision to leave the school in order to pursue his musical dreams.
“(The) world is ready for a new sensitive singer songwriter… Brandon McHose is here to fill that void” – https://examiner.com
Brandon had the opportunity to audition for Berkley School of Music in Boston but a professor there gave him the advice that he should not spend four years in college and instead immediately start embarking on a career in music. He took the advice and moved to Austin, Texas to develop his skill in his desired field of employment. During the five years since he first moved, Brandon went on to play on the regional club circuit and recorded two CDs, titled Life Eclipse (2007) and Token (2008), all while making a name for himself in the industry. Now located in Chicago since 2010, Brandon is continuing to grow and develop as a guitarist, songwriter and recording artist by getting involved with some of the city’s best studios, producers and fellow musicians. He has headlined at the Hard Rock Café, Taste of River North Festival and the House of Blues Foundation Room, just to name a few.
“That’s really where the excitement happens, up there onstage. I love feeling, the energy from the crowd and trying new things with the songs and with my guitar every night. I never play written solos and I like to try different spontaneous arrangements and segue into songs. I have done hundreds of acoustic gigs, and I don’t mind mixing it up, but I have the most fun now playing live with my band. I can pull out my electric and really let loose.” Brandon was quoted saying this about his onstage performances.
Brandon McHose’s latest EP titled Late Night is now available on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon.
“In Late Night EP McHose has evolved into an artist who is not afraid to combine what he knows with who he is becoming. His ability to shred and capture a more aggressive tone with this album has illustrated what he is trying to accomplish. Because he is able to maintain the attitude that he is a guitar player first even before being a singer and songwriter, attests to the passion he has for his craft. Brandon McHose is going to be an artist to watch.” - Muzic Reviews
