Walk off the Earth
Walk off the Earth is a Canadian band formed in Burlington/Toronto, Ontario in 2006 with a distinctively indie sound and an inviting, endearing presence. The five very talented musicians are making a huge splash in the emerging music industry for their independent, sincere and honest interpretation of original song writing and their unique and interesting way of covering songs and filming videos.
Since 2006, the band has built a dedicated fan base from around the world through their unique and heart-warming approach to song writing, filming and also their constant and open interaction with everyone their music touches. WOTE band members include Ryan Marshall (Guitar/Ukulele/Keys/Vocals/Trumpet/Bass/Harmonica), Gianni Luminati (Guitar/Bass/Ukulele/Banjo/Keys/Drums/Vocals/Theremin), Mike Taylor (Keys/Guitar/Vocals), Joel Cassady (Drums/Percussion/Samples), and Sarah Blackwood (Vocals/Keys/Guitar/Ukulele). The chemistry between the members of Walk off the Earth is undeniable; Ryan, Sarah and Gianni's individual vocal styling mesh seamlessly with Mike's harmonies and keys while being held together by Joel's creative percussion arrangements. They got their start covering songs by The Gregory Brothers and showcasing their originals and other covers on YouTube.
The massive fan response quickly drew attention to their collection of innovative songs and videos, which have been recorded and upload over the past five years, and have since generated a record-making flood of media interest. They received their big break after they covered Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” on YouTube, which gathered almost 47 million views in just 29 days, and over 35 million in just the first two weeks! The band’s video features all five members playing the song on one guitar while rotating vocals and harmonies. Ellen Degeneres had Walk off the Earth on her talk show on January 23, 2012 for an interview and performance and they have since covered songs by Adele, LMFAO, Eminem, The Beatles, etc. On February 7, 2012 it appeared in Crazed Hits, a music industry publication, that the band has been signed with a recording contract through Columbia Records.
WOTE is an unconventional, multi-talented and diverse music phenomenon that has exploded onto the new music scene. They have an undeniably independent spirit, a driven work ethic and an inspiring creativity which has sent them into the hearts of fans worldwide. The only direction WOTE has left to go is up, and fans and music industry professionals alike have strong mutual feelings that “up” is exactly where they're headed.
