The Lovely Bones – Mark Wahlberg Having read the book I wasn’t too anxious to see the movie. Don’t get me wrong the book was excellent. Of course, I had a lot of encouragement from Kyle Bonnici who just happens to work for Paramount Pictures insisting that I would enjoy the movie. He wasn’t wrong. Peter Jackson does an incredible job directing this picture. Having read the book first, I of course was looking for certain things in the movie. You know how it goes, the book is usually better than the movie. Not this time, the movie was just what it should be. Outstanding!
Since it is still playing I am only going to cover a little bit of the plot. I don’t want to give too much away.
This story is about a fourteen year old girl, Susie, played by Saoirse, who is murdered in 1978 by her neighbor, who then proceeds to watch over her family. She tells her story from heaven and shows how her family has gotten on with their lives and how these events have affected them. She soon has to make a tough decision to continue to look after her family or seek vengeance.
Here are the mistakes I found.
When Susie is driving to the hospital in the Ford Mustang you can see that the right front rim is missing before she actually looses it.
When Abigail, played by Rachel Weisz, returns from California it shows that her hair is short. Later we see that her hair is long. Then again we see her later and her hair is short again.
When Susie has her flashback of the neighbor dragging her cut up body into the safe her clothes appear to be clean with no visible blood on them. Then it shows him cleaning up the blood in the bathroom. It then shows her neighbor cleaning what appears to be dirty bloody clothes.
When Suzie is talking with Holly, while in her gazebo, it shows that Holly has pigtails. In the next few shots it shows her pigtails changing positions on her shoulders between shots.
I really want to thank Kyle for insisting that I should go to see this movie. It is such a moving experience and one that will remain with me for sometime. Of course getting to see Mark Wahlberg again doesn’t hurt either.
