A gift with a financial theme is a great way to celebrate a holiday, birthday, anniversary or graduation. Not only is the gift of future abundance and wealth a great idea, you’re also supporting the recipient on his/her road to life-long prosperity. Here are my favorite gift suggestions.
1. I’m a believer in life-long learning so my first choice for a gift is a good book. A great general finance book, in my opinion, should cover both the emotional and physical aspects of making and managing money.
A well written financial book will not only be an interesting read but also a powerful way to pave the road to greater financial freedom. Here are summaries for my pick of the top five abundance and wealth-building books. Here’s a link to my article Top 5 Abundance and Wealth Books.

2. Start a savings or investment account for a child, college student or newlywed couple. What greater gift than the gift of financial peace of mind. A savings or investment account will not only build a nest egg for the future but also give the recipient a positive start for securing a financially rewarding future.
For young children you may want to start with a piggy bank and when the bank is full, they can go to the bank and deposit the money in their savings account. For the student, you can both begin savings (maybe match the amount he/she deposits each month) for that new car they’ll be able to buy on graduation day. For the newlyweds it could be helping them build a down payment toward a new home.

3. Give the gift of asset protection. Yes that’s what I said, asset protection. There are many computer software programs and books on the market that can give the basics of asset protection. Of course, this doesn't replace talking with a professional who is specially trained.

4. Give a gift certificate for the services of a financial advisor, CPA or an attorney. When you want your gift to go beyond a CD Rom or a book, than seeing a professional face-to-face may be the perfect choice. This gift could be just the needed vehicle toward lasting financial self-sufficiency. An hour or two with a professional who can answer questions, protect the assets they already have with a will or trust or help them develop a financial plan for the future could bring life-long peace of mind.

5. Your time and energy working side-by-side with your loved ones at a community food bank, nursing home or animal shelter may not be a gift of money but it is definitely one of abundance and wealth. One of the greatest gifts we can give is our time, energy and expertise. Working with your loved ones to make the world a better place is a gift the recipient will never forget.
Financial self-sufficiency is definitely a gift that keeps on giving from generation to generation.
