Anti Aging Natural Supplements that Work
Here’s a riddle. If anti aging natural supplements are meant to make up for deficiencies in the human diet, shouldn’t they come from human food sources?
Think about it. Humans eat human food. Dogs eat dog food. Cats eat cat food. Birds eat bird food. Cows eat grass. And dung beetles eat dung. And that’s the way it’s been since the beginning of time.
But recently the food supplement industry is trying to change the natural order of things. Almost all natural supplements available today are made from NON-human food sources.
There are plenty of examples.
Pycnogenol comes from pine bark, dunaliella salina from pond scum algae and flaxseed oil (traditionally used to make cloth) is also known as linseed oil for refinishing furniture. Then there’s grape seed extract, coral calcium and weird nontraditional fruits like gac, acai, noni, gogi and mangosteen.
Now when was the last time you had any of these strange ingredients for dinner? Have you ever found one at a salad bar? Do you know of anybody with a deficiency in any of these so-called “super” foods? Of course not!
If these ingredients don’t have a long, safe history of non-toxic, healthy nutritional food value, like that of a carrot or a slice of whole grain bread, then why are so many supplement manufacturers using them in their products?
The answer is simple.
They’re plentiful and they’re cheap. (In other words, nobody else wants them.) But, scientists don’t really know the long-term negative effects of these non-human foods. Do you want to be their guinea pig?
For instance, take dunalliela salina. It grows in stagnant polluted water, doesn’t require a high school diploma to grow, and no living creature eats it. Plus, it’s certainly not part of the normal human food chain. The presence of pond scum and all the other above ingredients in food supplements is not based on sound nutritional concepts.
It’s based on profit margins and hype marketing.
The words “natural” and “whole food” are powerful marketing terms. Most manufacturers will do anything they can, including stretching the truth and inventing stories, to misuse these words for promoting their products and increasing their profits.
You can do much better.
