Goals and Resolutions
This time of year many people start thinking about New Year's resolutions. What do you want to change about your life? Do you want to lose weight, write a book or travel the world? Odds are you're not alone in your quest. If you're looking for inspiration or just a little encouragement, you can find others who share your goals at 43things.com
Almost everyone has at least one “to do” list, most people have several. 43 things is the ultimate, public “to do” list. It provides a way to organize your goals and make connections with others who share your interests.
Browsing the site can be as much of an adventure as making your own list. In fact, reading about other people’s goals can be both addicting and inspiring.
The home page presents a list of links to the most recently added goals. When you find a goal that interests you, click on the link to be taken to the main page for that goal. This page will tell you how many other people have listed this “thing” as one of their “things." A list of all the members who have included this goal on their list appears at the top of the page, just click on a name to see an individual list.
If you want to make your own list, registration is free and the process is very simple. Click the “log in” link, click “create new account,” then enter an email address, user name and password. After you verify your email address, you’re ready to start your list.
If you can’t think of 43 things, browse the site and read the lists of other members for ideas. You can also write about your motivation, your progress or anything else that relates to your goal.
Once you’ve completed one of your things, then check it off your list by clicking the “I‘ve done this” button. Completed goals will appear on your public, main page as things you’ve done with a check mark next to them.
Give a cheer when you find a worthwhile goal. You get a limited number of cheers to distribute each day. Cheers are a way of showing support and connecting with other members who have similar goals and interests. Of course you don’t have to cheer anyone, but searching for worthy goals to cheer can lead to new ideas for your own list.
Inspiring new goals is one of the "things" 43 things does best. Search the site for a little while and soon you’ll be thinking I should add that to my list.
If you like 43things, then you might want to visit 43places.com to list the 43 places you’d most like to visit and 43people.com to list the top 43 people you’d like to meet.
