These recipes are tasty, but it also hold together well. No falling bits of meatloaf!

Italian Meatloaf Recipes

Recipe I

Ingredients

  • 1 green bell pepper, seeded and diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 1/4 pounds ground beef
  • 1 pound mild Italian sausage meat
  • 1 1/2 cups cracker crumbs
  • 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1/2 tsp dried sage
  • 1 cup dry wine
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp fresh oregano, crumbled

Directions

  1. In a large bowl mix the green pepper, onion, ground beef, ground pork, cracker crumbs, onion soup mix, salt, pepper, sage, oregano, tomato sauce, and wine.
  2. Place in a 9" x 5" loaf pan and form into a loaf.
  3. Bake for 1 1/2 hours at 350F.
  4. Remove from the oven and let stand for 5 minutes, and then serve.

Recipe II

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup simple tomato pasta sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper, freshly ground

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, 1/2 cup pasta sauce, garlic, salt and pepper; mix together well.
  2. Place in a 9" x 5" loaf pan and form into a loaf.
  3. Spread the remaining 1/2 cup of pasta sauce over the top of the meat loaf.
  4. Bake at 350F for 1 hour or until the internal temperature of the meat loaf reaches 165 degrees.
  5. Let the meat loaf stand at room temperature 5 minutes before slicing.
Note: Refrigerate the leftovers, slice the meat loaf and serve for great cold meat loaf sandwiches.
