Anne Thomas Soffee’s Nerd Girl Rocks Paradise City: A True Story of Faking It in Hair Metal L.A. was a comical memoir. As a writer I found some of the situations she encountered interesting and I found myself saying, “Oh no she didn’t” quite a few times. I hadn’t heard of Anne Soffee until I got the book. After you read it, you’ll know more than you care to know but I mean it in a good way. There are some serious parts but Anne’s natural flair for bringing humor to a very bad situation, stood out in the book. I cracked up from laughing so hard. If you’re expecting to be bored, then don’t pick up this book. Of course there are a few parts that you might want to skim over, but for the most part, for me not knowing who Anne was prior to getting Nerd Girl Rocks Paradise City, it held my attention long enough for me to finish it.
