The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man
2012’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” found the web slinging franchise with a new face behind the mask, a new love interest and a new nemesis. After being bitten by a spider in a research lab, young, shy Peter Parker embraces his new found abilities and uses them to fight crime in the city while trying to track down the criminal that murdered his Uncle Ben. But when scientist, Dr. Curt Connors, tests a regeneration serum on himself that turns him into The Lizard, it’s up to Spider-Man to save the city from his path of destruction. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “The Amazing Spider-Man”.

· Near the beginning, when Flash has Gordon lifted up with his face mashed into his lunch tray, Peter walks through the crowd to see what’s going on. The black and white strap on Peter’s camera is over his right shoulder. It’s still there when Flash keeps telling him to take a picture. But when Peter says “Put him down, Flash”, the camera strap is gone. It can be seen on the ground after Flash pummels him, but we never see him take it off!

· Peter goes to Dr. Connors’ home. After the “good reflexes” comment, Peter picks up a coffee cup from the counter and hands it to Dr. Connors. In the front view, when he picks up the cup, Peter is holding it from the top, at the rim. But when it cuts to the close-up, when Dr. Connors takes the cup, Peter is holding it around the middle.

· When Uncle Ben is shot by the guy who held up the convenience store, he falls to the ground with his glasses still on his face. But when Peter runs over to him, Uncle Ben’s glasses are now lying on the sidewalk just over his right shoulder.

· After he first tries to find the man that murdered Uncle Ben, Peter falls through the roof of the building and lands face down in a wrestling ring. One of the wooden boards from the ceiling is lying upright against the ropes towards the right of the screen, near Peter’s feet. But when Peter stands up, the board isn’t there.

· When Gwen stops Peter in the hallway and asks him where he’s headed (when she reminds him it’s Thursday), Peter takes both of his earplugs out. But when she asks what happened to his eye, the front view of him (back view of Gwen) shows his right earplug is still in.

· Peter takes the “Wanted” poster of the man who killed Uncle Ben from the police officer. Above the sketch, the word “Wanted” is written on one line and then directly underneath “For Questioning” is written. The same poster is showed a little later in the film. But at the very end, when Peter is listening to Uncle Ben’s phone message, a close-up of the poster shows that it still says “Wanted” but the words underneath now say “For Murder”.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” (2012) stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Field and C. Thomas Howell. It runs 136 minutes and is rated PG-13 for sequences of action and violence.
