Roxanna Review
Roxanna is a sultry Spanish singer with organic music and a non-synthetic sound. With her upcoming debut album release, titled Exotica, she is soon to take the English/Spanish/European music scene by storm, and it is well deserved for this hard-working, multi-talented singer.
Originally born in Iran, and growing up amidst the war with Iraq, Roxanna knew she was destined for a life outside of the hurt and suffering and would turn to music to calm her down and bring her balance. Her family soon moved to Istanbul, Turkey, when she was 11. It was there that Roxanna was introduced to the Western culture and music. By the late 1980s, her family eventually moved to Toronto, Canada and the singer now considers the province her home.
After earning a degree in nursing, as well as a working stint in the modelling industry, Roxanna learned to write songs based on the events both good and bad that had happened in her own life. Her first song, titled Unforgotten, was inspired by her fianc who had left her only six days before their wedding. The song is about sadness, heartbreak, and having hope for tomorrow. The track is also featured in her debut video, which is now available on YouTube and iTunes; and can you imagine: the man with her in the video is Days of Our Lives actor James Scott talk about payback!
Roxanna is also an independent artist and has started her own label called Roxart, Inc. After performing wherever and whenever she could, Roxanna eventually contacted West Coast-based producer Mark Portmann and he is now the producer for her upcoming debut album (set to release sometime in early 2013), as well as a songwriter/collaborator for a few of the songs on the album.
Apart from Unforgotten, look for upcoming record releases for songs titled Close Your Eyes and El Amor (a Spanish cover of the Julio Iglesias original). With an overall pop attitude, as well as a blend of string orchestration, flamenco singers, and Spanish and European influences, Roxannas debut album Exotica is surely not to be missed! Her goal is to create a pleasurable, elegant, and relaxing album and with the preview of songs I have heard thus far, I can only agree that she is doing exactly what shes saying. If you want an album that sings less about bad vibes and lost romances, and more about friendship, pleasure, love, romance, and beauty, then Roxannas album is definitely going to be one to check out!
