Light Meters, Hydrometers and Thermometers are important tools for orchid growers. CalWest Orchid Supplies has a good selection at reasonable prices.
The Intelligent Plant Light has it all – programmed timer to change lighting according to seasons and a reservoir to provide extra humidity. They also have a lot of interesting items for all kinds of orchid lovers. Decorative stakes for Phalaenopsis; decorative pots; imaginative pot hangers and tabletop or desktop orchid environments.
The Potting Workshop CD was the subject of an earlier article. This item is highly recommended for any level orchid grower.
The OrchidWiz Encyclopedia is a brand new encyclopedia for intermediate and advanced growers. It has information on more than 125,000 hybrids and 9,400 species including growing information. The amount of information provided is unbelievable! Easy to use and load. Highly recommended! I haven’t seen anything like this before. The site also has a wonderful screen saver which shows orchids and their parents. A real learning experience just watching it!
Broad Bay Cotton has a nice selection of orchid purses, trays, and coolers. This is a fun way to show your love for orchids.
The Orchid Wheel is a nicely done, waterproof, culture and pest information product from Odom’s Orchids. Good for new orchid growers.
Clay Trout Pottery offers specialized orchid pots, water pots and orchid tiles. A really interesting item is the “Water Pot” for miniature orchids which keeps them moist and cool. This vendor has a nice selection of very good looking items.
Orchid Art Tiles in Hawaii has a wonderful selection of ceramic tiles with orchid images done by artist Annie O’Connor.
Orchid Posters are another item that lovers can display proudly in their offices or homes!
Orchid Recordkeeping Journal. It comes in a gift set either large (8 ½ x 11 inches) size or small size (5 x 7 inches) in a really pretty orchid color!! Denise also offers several accessories that go with the journal, so take a look.
Cattleya-Log offers an orchid database for cataloging and keeping track of your collection. Can either be downloaded or delivered by CD. I really have used mine to great benefit with all the features that it has.
