It’s the end of the world as we know it! But Jackson Curtis refuses to go without a fight. When he finds out what is really happening, he becomes determined to save his family. Here are a few mistakes to look for while watching “2012”.

∙ At the beginning of the movie, Adrian visits India and comes back to the fundraising event at the Lincoln Plaza Hotel in Washington D.C. Adrian calls Scotty over and asks for his dinner jacket so he can talk to Anheuser. Scotty takes his jacket off and Adrian shoves his duffel bag and other case into Scotty’s arms. In the side view, when Adrian grabs the report and walks away, Scotty is holding the bags (one on top of the other) against his chest. It cuts to a close-up of Scotty when he says “easy, that’s a $600 jacket”, and he’s not holding the entire bag, he’s only holding the strap.

∙ Jackson goes to pick up his kids, Noah and Lilly, and has to use the limo. When Jackson gets out of the car, the back view of him as he’s walking around the limo shows the trunk is fully open and he puts his left arm on it. When it cuts to a front view, as he goes to hug Lilly, the trunk is still opening.

∙ Jackson and the kids arrive at Yellowstone and see the lake. When he mentions that the lake is gone, a close-up of Noah and Lilly shows Lilly is standing next to Jackson, Noah is on her right. It cuts to a back view of them when Jackson says they should “check it out” and they have switched places. Noah is now standing next to Jackson and Lilly is on Noah’s right.

∙ Jackson, Noah and Lilly are checking out the dried up lake at Yellowstone. They come across a dead moose and government equipment. When the U.S. Army arrives, the scene pans out to an overhead view and the equipment can still be seen but the moose has disappeared.

∙ Noah and Lilly are getting ready to go to sleep in the tent while Jackson is looking at his laptop. When Jackson tells Lilly “I’m doing something else”, the front view of him shows him putting the laptop down in the green lounge chair directly in front of him. But the back view of him walking to the tent shows the laptop on the cooler. When Jackson gets to the tent, the edge of the computer can be seen in the background sitting in the chair.

∙ Yuri and his family have their life vests on and Jackson and Kate have put the vests on Lilly and Noah when Gordon calls the two men to the cockpit. Right after the final two engines fail and the plane swipes an area of the mountain, it cuts to a quick view of the children in the cargo hold and no one is wearing their vests. A few moments later, when Yuri and Jackson run back to the cargo hold to get in the cars, all of the kids are wearing their vests again.

“2012” (2009) stars John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt, Liam James, Morgan Lily, Danny Glover and Woody Harrelson. It runs 158 minutes and is rated PG-13 for intense disaster sequences and some language.
