Thrifty Nursery Decorating Ideas
Nursery decorating has become a billion dollar a year industry. With all those "experts" and expensive designers publishing glorious pictures and selling complicated images of decorator baby rooms, it's easy to forget one simple fact; the baby doesn't care, nor will the baby remember their nursery. It doesn't make you a better parent to spend a fortune decorating a nursery. Be sensible, avoid the baby factory stores with their themed packages that make your baby's room look less like a bedroom and more like a marketing showroom.

Baby's Crib
If you're choosing to have your baby sleep in a crib (It's an American practice that makes new moms tired, but it's an option) consider using a second hand crib. New nursery furniture can emit fumes from the chemical finishes, and second hand furniture has often been "aired out" long enough that the toxic fumes are nonexistent. Make sure the safety standards on the crib meet current safety guidelines. Mainly, the vertical slats should be close enough together that baby's arms and legs don't get wedged between them.

Linens in the Nursery
Instead of buying a character licensed or artist designed set of matching crib sheets, blankets and bumper pad, keep one thing in mind; babies leak. Those matching linen sets won't last 24 hours with a newborn. Instead, consider choosing one of three realistic color schemes, whites, primaries or pastels and picking up several second hand sheet sets. There's really no need to buy a comforter, people will give you so many baby blankets you won't know what to do with them all.

Decorating Ideas for the Nursery Wall Art
You can buy posters online, framed an non framed. You can also use framed art from second hand stores. Consider painting or refinishing second hand frames and using them to hold family photos, a collage or even your favorite nursery sheet (at least then it would show)

Whether you choose a nursery theme like "vintage toys," Noah's ark" or even just "pink." There are several ways to make a cuter-than-corporate nursery on a budget. Fill the room with love, and have a blast shopping for unique and special items to fill baby's room. And don't feel bad if he never sleeps in the crib, a little extra time in arms doesn't really spoil them.
