Happy Birthday, Baby by Dr. SeussRandom House publishes Happy Birthday, Baby by Dr. Seuss. However, Dr. Seuss neither writes nor illustrates the juvenile board book. Jan Gerardi does the illustrations. The board book is based on the picture book, Happy Birthday to You! Dr. Seuss is the writer of this story book. The board book is for kids between one and three-years-old. It has ten pages. Plot/Summary: It is the baby’s birthday. Birthday Bird from Katroo awakens the baby. They waste not one moment of the glorious day. Birthday Bird and baby together spend the day in celebration. The whimsical characters of Katroo grant the baby’s wishes. It is a wild, colorful birthday celebration for the special child. Happy Birthday, Baby is a celebratory book to mark the anniversary of the baby’s birth. Dr. Seuss-like rhymes and characters fill the pages. Parents and grandparents love to share the board book to engage the baby in the day’s festivities. Happy Birthday, Baby’s ten pages do not tax an infant’s short attention span. Thick pages allow the child to easily turn the pages. Bright colors decorate the pages. Although, the rhymes are not Dr. Seuss’s, they flow nicely. The interactive board book is a selection from the Dr. Seuss Nursery Collection. These books have manipulatives for an infant/toddler to touch, move and smell. Children enjoy the interaction with the story books. Some parts can come off with rough treatment, so supervise the baby while she handles the book. If looking for the original rhymes and illustrations, get Happy Birthday to You!. Dr. Seuss writes and illustrates the picture book. Children need a regular routine. A set bedtime and place to sleep are part of the daily routine. Read a bedtime story as part of the nightly ritual. Read quiet, soothing books to children in their warm, comfortable bed. This allows a child to associate reading with comfort and security. The association will continue a lifetime.
