Safe and Healthy Travels this Holiday Week

Safe and Healthy Travels this Holiday Week
This week is sure to be one full of memories - both good and bad - for travelers everywhere. Hopefully, for you, there will be more good than bad stories. The best things to do? Choose your travel attitude and be prepared for anything!

1. Be healthy before you go.
Take your vitamins, and get enough rest before you even leave on your trip. Don't cram everything into the last four hours before you're supposed to leave. Be well rested and healthy when you embark on your journey.

2. Take your hand sanitizer.
Whether you're driving or flying, take a travel bottle of hand sanitizer with you. If you're filling up at gas stations, use it after you have finished. If you're flying, use it before and after the plane ride. Also taking a packet of pocket-size tissues will be handy for you and your fellow travelers.

3. Don't touch your face with your hands
Viruses can most easily enter your body through your nose, mouth, and eyes. Do not touch your face with your hands during the trip, and use the CDC guidelines for sneezing and coughing into the crook of your arm.

4. Make sure you have an emergency travel kit.
If you're flying, your emergency travel kit should be anything you'd need to stay in an airport for an extended period of time. Don't pack your cell phone charger in checked luggage. Better yet, don't check your luggage. Take a roomy carry-on that will allow you to pack snacks or keep books, notebooks, or your iPod handy. You'll be glad if you get stranded. If you're driving, make sure your car is ready and you have an emergency kit for the area you're traveling to. Extra blankets a must for this one! You may want to consider taking a travel pillow, too. You will never know when you may need one. If you have allergies, take a small supply of your medication, and make sure to add chapstick to your list.

5. Stay hydrated
Drink water or tea on the plane - and try to avoid too many drinks with caffeine. Being healthily hydrated will help your body fend off any viruses and other attacks.

Not everyone will be healthy that you encounter. Keep your energy levels up, drink your water, take your vitamins, and keep your sanitizer handy, and you can get through the holiday week healthy and happy.
