If you’re an American Idol fan, then you probably remember the former contestant LaToya London. With the release of Love & Life, she’s showcasing her skills and branching out into the R & B arena.

Although there are some up-tempo/mid-tempo songs on the CD, I prefer her slow jams. Maybe because I was in a mellow mood when I first played the CD. Tuning everything else out around me, I laid back and enjoyed the music. Listening closely to the lyrics, I could relate to a few of the songs.

“Welcome to love’s tug of war show,” sings LaToya on “Meet me Halfway”. “Waiting for You” is an uplifting and motivational song. In light of what’s going on around me, it actually brought me to tears. It reminds me of The Greatest Love of All by Whitney Houston.

“Learn to Breathe” and “State of My Heart” are two other songs that I’m adding to my constant rotation in my CD player.
