Free Activities in Hong Kong :Temple Street Market

Guest Author - Taisha Turner

The Temple Street Market is one of the many free activities in Hong Kong, China. It is the place to see others and to be seen. The market is the most famous of all Hong Kong street markets.

The bustling open-air market opens at 2:00 P.M. daily. Yet, things start happening when the sun sets. People come out not only to shop, but to enjoy the night activities. There are fortune tellers. Occasionally, there are Cantonese Opera Singers. Imagine listening to the singers for free.

This market is not specializing like the Flower Market or the Yuen Street Bird Garden. Everything is for sale here. There are clothes, shoes, electronic gadgets, and much, much more. Food stalls dot the area. Do not worry about going hungry.

The free Temple Market and its entertainment ends at 11 P.M. daily. Take the MTR to reach the market. Use the Jordan exit.

It is best to know the item’s price at home when shopping for electronic gadgets. This allows the shopper to do comparison shopping. If an item comes in a box, open the box and inspect the item before giving your cash. Buyers beware!

This market is like all the other markets, strictly cash. There is no ability to use a credit card.

Temple Market is the great place to stroll. Taste the variety of Chinese fast food. Bowls of noodle soup are available. Try the dim sum. A dim sum ball is perfect to eat while walking. The white ball fits in the palm of your hand.
