Free Activities in Hong Kong : Jade Market

Guest Author - Taisha Turner

Here is a free activity for the Hong Kong traveler. Visit the Jade Market. There are all shades of jade on display. There are more than 400 registered stalls on Jordan Kansu Street, Kowloon, Hong Kong, China.

This free activity is like visiting a jade museum. Take your time and explore the jade stalls. Don’t worry if it is raining, the stalls are covered. There are amulets, ornament, necklaces and trinkets for perusal. Explore the different jade pieces. Appreciate the designers’ craftsmanship.

The Chinese believe jade offers protection from evil spirits. It will also calm nerves. Green is the favorite color. Purchase a jade piece to take home a souvenir. If not a Jade expert, buy a less expensive piece.

The Jade Market is open daily. The Jordan Kansu street market is open from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.. Take time and browse the jade stalls. Find an ornament to beautify your life.

If Jade is not a favorite, view the pearls and other collectibles. There is a variety of jewelry with freshwater pearls.

Remember when visiting any market area in Hong Kong to wear comfortable shoes. Enjoy Hong Kong! It is a beautiful and vibrant place to visit. Use the links on the right for more free activities in Hong Kong. The traveler can enjoy the city very inexpensively.
