Belkasoft IE Favorites Extractor

Guest Author - Rick Carruth

Far and away, one of the most valuable features of Internet Explorer is the bookmark feature. As a writer/editor, I'm constantly saving URL's to sites I want to reference or re-read. I've used the same computer for the past two and a half years, and during that time I've managed to collect hundreds of URL's from around the world.

When I bought a new computer about a month ago, I realized that the many web addresses I had stored in 'Favorites' were not backed up. The thought of transferring data from one computer to another, and the possibility of losing my 'favorites' was frightening. I could re-install many programs from the original disk or websites in the event of a migration failure, but my Favorites would be lost forever.

I could imagine myself sitting at my computer for hours, patiently copying the URL's by hand. Then, during a little research , I discovered Belkasoft IE Favorites Extractor. This freeware program, once installed, would enable me to quickly extract and save all my bookmarks in several different formats.

I quickly, as in about ten seconds, extracted my favorites as plain text by name and URL, separated by a blank line. I could have generated HTML and XML files as well, but chose to stick with the plain text, which I copied and pasted into an email and then sent it to myself at one of my gmail accounts.

Now, regardless of what happened with the transfer, I had a record of all my favorite sites tucked away in a web based email account that I could recover at any time, from any machine.

I'm sure there are many other worthwhile reasons to download and use Belkasoft IE Favorites Extractor, but this was my reason. And it gave me the confidence of knowing that my many favorites were now safe.

Additionally, you can extract your favorites by titles or as numbered entries. Belkasoft offers other Favorites-related programs, some as shareware and others on a trial basis.
