Best Dad Ever...
Well, in the UK it is that time of year where we are meant to show appreciation to our dads for father's day .
When I looked at my most recent site searches, I should have guessed that they would have included those to do with father's day, the search today was 'best dad ever'. It was a shame that the site showed no results for this! I have been the editor of the quotations site for over a year now but before me there were other authors, whose articles are included in the site searches. I guess other authors had different visions for the quotations site, some simply pasting quotes or poems. I like to make some of them relevant but also informal and interesting for people to read.
The strange thing about father's day is that it is no where near as big as mother's day. Now my mum would say this is because 'dads don't do anything' and 'mums cook, clean, wash, look after the kids, etc' and it's true. Mums probably do a lot more (stereotypically of course) and at the end of the day, they are the ones that gave birth, so maybe it's right that the day is bigger.
But we can't say fathers do nothing, and what about those 'daddy's girls' out there? Here are some fathers day quotes (useful for soppy messages inside cards!)_
Anyone can be a Father, but it takes someone special to be a Daddy.
He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.
It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons.
The imprint of the Father, remains forever on the life of the child.
To become a father is not difficult, but to be a father is.
When one has not had a good father, one must create one.
Fathers carry pictures where their money used to be.
A man knows when he is growing old because he begins to look like his father. ...
When I was looking at all the quotes, there seems to be a running theme throughout them, and that is the idea that being a father or a dad is not just a name and not just biological, because they have the same genes. It is about loving and caring, about your heart and emotion and sacrificing things. It's not just about being a father but being a good one.
