Beta Wolf Review
Beta Wolf is a Los Angeles, CA, alternative rock band who impeccably creates a modern version of the classic rocker sound. With heavy songs, ballads, and melodic, mid-tempo tracks, Beta Wolf blends a healthy mixture of tunes and meaningful lyrics to accomplish game-changing, noticeable music.
Forming together as a musical group in early 2012 after growing from the ashes of Takota, a similarly popular rock group, Beta Wolf contains five band members who include Grant Arnow (lead vocalist/songwriter), Devon Pangle (rhythm guitarist), Sergio Ruelas (lead guitarist), Chester Lang (drummer), and Rocko McIvor (bassist).
Not just another generic alternative/emo rock band, Beta Wolf’s lead singer has massive vocals that compliment their well-written, honest and sincere songs. Their debut international album Dark Days was released exclusively in Japan in October 2011 through JVC/Victor Records. The record reached number 51 on the international charts.
After returning from a tour in Japan, the rock band released their latest EP on July 31, 2012 through Congregation Records and titled it Just Before Morning. The EP contains five songs which were produced and mixed by Avenged Sevenfold’s Fred Archambault at Berkeley Street Studios. The first single “Just Before Morning” is a meaningful song, as well as the album’s title track. It was co-written by Dan Wilson, who wrote hits such as Adele’s “Someone Like You” and Semisonic’s “Closing Time.” The EP also includes popular singles like the catchy “Domino,” which features vocals from every band member, a first for a Beta Wolf recording. In the song, “Los Angeles” the band sings about the city they love, and “Who’s Holding On To You” is a song that was written after the bands many nights of people watching at the various L.A. bars and clubs. Lastly, “Last Man Standing” is an anthem about perseverance.
