Olde Cape Cod Chipotle Ranch

Olde Cape Cod Chipotle Ranch
Olde Cape Cod Chipotle Ranch dressing includes chipotle pepper, buttermilk and asiago cheese. This definitely adds a kick to any salad you make, and can be used as a veggie dip as well!

If you are used to eating ranch dressings on your salads, and expect them to be bland and flavorless, you are in for a BIG surprise with this dressing. It definitely has a kick. Not a burn-off-your-tongue level of spiciness, but definitely something to get your tongue tingling.

For nutrition facts, it has 2.5g of saturated fat, no trans fat, 5mg cholesterol, 230mg sodium, and 3g of carbs. There's no protein and pretty much no nutrition in it. The total is 170 calories. All of this is for 2 Tablespoons of dressing.

I know I comment in every dressing review I do that 2 Tablespoons is way too small for the large salads I create. I have large dinner sized salads where it is my entire meal. They really need to have stats for "small side salad" as well as "full main salad". Maybe if I keep mentioning it and lobbying for it someone will take action!

The ingredients here fall halfway between the junk you find in bulk dressings and the high quality you find in hand crafted dressings. Yes, you can identify the ingredients which is good. However, they start out with

soybean oil
distilled vinegar
corn syrup
water
cultured buttermilk
salt (so we must be fairly small volume at this point)

How can corn syrup be the #3 ingredient in a salad dressing!! Why in the world do we need "sugar water" in essence in something you are pouring over a healthy salad. This really gets to me. Surely they could have made this dressing without bulking it out with corn syrup. I would gladly pay a few pennies more to have a more natural dressing mixture without any corn syrup in it. If they needed it to be sweeter they could add stevia or something.

Anyway, it does taste good, although as mentioned it's a bit spicy. If you are having a mild, light salad, the spice might overwhelm those gentle flavors. If you're having a more robust salad, enjoy!
