Sly the Sleuth - and the Pet Mysteries
Donna Jo Napoli and her son, Robert Furrow’s, Sly the Sleuth and the Pet Mysteries contains three mystery stories. Sylvia or Sly is an amateur detective whose agency is Sleuth for Hire. This detective is one spunky ten-year-old. If one has a problem, this is the sleuth. All the cases, in this book, involve the pets of friends and neighbors.
The characters in Sly the Sleuth and the Pet Mysteries are depicted in great detail. One such charater is Brian’s mother. She does not feed Brian junk food. Her idea of a tasty after-school treat is flaxseed sprinkled on prunes. Image the average young reader’s opinion of her treat.
