Best friends since childhood, Michael Knight and John McKedrick graduated together from Harvard Law. Michael joined the U.S. Attorney's office, and later became partners with legendary trial attorney Lex Devlin.

Unfortunately, John’s life took a different turn when he became the only associate to mob lawyer Benny Ignola. John figured his decision would help him become a trial lawyer much quicker, and after a couple of year’s experience he could move on to cleaner pastures.

On their way to dinner one evening, John was killed in a car bombing just before Michael got into the car. Badly injured, Michael mourned the loss of his best friend and the future that could have been.

Meanwhile, for the first time in 40 years, Lex Devlin reunited with his childhood friends - Matt Ryan, now a priest, and Dominic Santangelo, a Mafia don. Dominic's son was arrested for John's murder and Dominic hoped to put past differences aside so that Lex could help with his son’s defense.

While Michael was still recovering from his injuries, Lex persuaded him to defend the suspected bomber in court. As he reluctantly prepared the defense, Michael was drawn into a high-stakes art fraud which took him from Boston to Amsterdam and gave him an unexpected first-hand look into international crime.

Frame-Up was written by John F. Dobbyn, a professor of law at Villanova Law School. His obvious knowledge of trial law is apparent in this book. Dobbyn keeps the story moving at quite a fast pace, throwing in a few twists and turns along the way.

Frame-Up is a legal thriller with international ties that provides enough mystery to keep readers involved in the story line. Fans who love a good suspense will enjoy trying to figure out just who did put the hit on John, why, and who was next.

Much of the story is about relationships: Those of old friends, strange bedfellows, and the uneasy ties between the good and the bad. Also, Michael is not above calling on old Harvard acquaintances when he needs a favor just as he did in Dobbyn’s first novel, Neon Dragon. Just to add a further spark to an otherwise hot story, Michael meets a possible love interest along the way.

There is plenty of action for everyone in this highly recommended second novel. Hopefully, we will see much more of the dynamic duo law partners Lex Devlin and Michael Knight.
