Singapore & the International Olympic Committee (IOC)
Singapore captured the sports world’s attention this week. What city will host the 2012 Olympics? Paris, Madrid, New York, London and Moscow were short-listed. The 117th International Olympic Committee was in session to decide in this Southeast Asia country.
Raffles City Convention Center was the site of the session. The 100 members voted and decided London, England as the site of the 2012 Olympics. Singapore, the gracious city-state, was the perfect host for the travelers who came to represent their cities.
The Convention Center is on the top floor of the Raffles Shopping Center. Alight at the MTR’s City Hall Station, to reach the complex. The address is 2 Stamford Road. The complex is easy to find. It is across the street from Raffles Hotel which is a couple of blocks from the Singapore River.
