Travel Aids - Travel Insurance Tips
Southeast Asia Travel posted a ‘Travel Aids’ article a few months ago concerning travel insurance. I recently came across an article in the Charlotte Observer News on the subject. In the article, some very good aids were given on what type of coverage to buy. I thought to share them with my readers. If you are considering purchasing insurance for your important trip, take a look at the following tips. I hope the aids help in making a final decision.
Travel Insurance: What to Watch Out For
• Think about what you really need. Find out if your regular health insurance policy covers you overseas.
• If you have a health condition, make sure the policy will cover it.
• Make sure your policy covers you if the cruise line or airline you're traveling on goes bankrupt.
• Find out if claims must be made within a certain amount of time.
• If you are going to a remote area, or a place where you don't trust hospitals, consider emergency medical evacuation coverage.
• Make sure you are covered from door to door -- say, if you go on a cruise and take a flight, you should confirm that you're covered on both parts of your vacation.

Keep a copy of your travel insurance policy with your passport. Also, leave copies of the policy with responsible family and friends at home. Don't forget to leave copies of your passport and birth certificate with someone, too. Do you need a passport holder? This is a great one for backpacker traveler. It is so comfortable, you will forget you are wearing it. It is waterproof, so you can take it in the shower.
