Vacationer Review
As the band's name suggests, Vacationer’s music makes you feel like you’re on a tropical beach oasis – or at least make you wish you were on one. Originally formed in 2011 as a side project for singer/song writer/musician Kenny Vasoli, Vacationer is an alternative indie/pop/rock band with a neo-psychedelic vibe.
Along with creating the feeling of escaping to a beach-ridden dreamland, Vacationer’s music is rhythmic and hypnotic, yet they still manage to exude genuine emotions and sing with heartfelt, relatable lyrics. After releasing their debut EP in 2011, the band members of Vacationer quickly got back to work and recorded their full-length album, titled Gone, which was released in 2012. Both recordings were put out by record label Downtown Records.
The musicians of the Philadelphia-based band are definitely not newcomers to the music scene – Kenny Vasoli is originally from the pop punk band The Starting Line, and there are also two members from the Brooklyn-based band Body Language who are now in Vacationer as well.
With electro, dream pop melodies, Vacationer’s music is engaging, relaxing and gives you an overall happy feeling. What is original and interesting about this band – apart from their fantastic music – is that they decided to record and create their songs specifically to relax their listeners and “send their minds on a much deserved trip.” Although there are a lot of bands and musicians that create soothing melodies, Vacationer is different from the rest in the fact that they are selectively writing songs with the intention to send you on a mini vacation through their music. And if you’re anything like me, a vacation is always much-needed but rarely available – which is why Vacationer is the perfect musical fit.
