Xoe Wise Review
As a smooth sounding, pop/folk-inspired singer/songwriter, Xoe Wise is a small town girl who is on the path to discovering her big city dreams. Combining her dreamy vocals and romantic lyrics with lush folk melodies, Xoe Wise and her six-piece band are quickly selling out shows, playing larger venues and of course, adding fame to their name.
Originally from a small beachside town in North Carolina, Wise discovered her love for music at the young age of five after picking up her first guitar. Following a short stint in Michigan, Xoe Wise has since moved to Chicago, IL to pursue her musical dreams. After collaborating with Ethan Stoller in 2009, Wise quickly burst onto the music scene just before releasing her debut album, titled Echo, in October of 2010. Echo is filled with simple guitar and keyboard arrangements, as well as relatable and romantic lyrics, melodies and vocals. The album quickly received critical acclaim, and in my opinion, her sound is most definitely that of a wonderful, acoustic/indie genre – which is just the way I like it. Xoe has also recorded and contributed music for films like V for Vendetta, Ninja Assasin, Sherlock Holmes, and more.
With a sound comparable to the likes of a female Bon Iver, Wise has since played along stage as a supporting artist with musical greats like Lisa Loeb, Colbie Caillat and John Legend. Growing more and more as an artist and quickly discovering her dreamy folk tones and overall musical niche while living in Chicago, Xoe Wise is rapidly becoming a well-known and talked-about name.
Xoe released her latest album called Archive of Illusions on May 1, 2012. Within its first day of release the album reached #41 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart, as well as received an immediate placement on the “New and Noteworthy” section of the store’s Singer/Songwriter homepage.
