Updo for Very Long Hair - With a Ponytail
Updos are the most chosen hair style for weddings and for proms. They are dressy, sophisticated are sure to stay in place throughout the special day. However, there are some women who are often told that they cannot have the updo they want.
Those women who wear their hair very long, extending to the middle of their back or longer, may have known the difficulty in receiving an updo hair style. This may also happen when hair is not so long but very heavy or thick. Some hairdressers will say that there is simply too much hair to achieve an attractive style. They may suggest that the hair be worn in a different style – possibly down or in a half updo Other hairdressers may even suggest that the hair be cut before styling. However, there are procedures in styling hair that make it possible to have a beautiful updo even with the longest of hair.
This updo is created in very long hair using a simple ponytail to control the length and weight of the hair.
To begin, simply brush all of the hair up into a ponytail using a covered elastic band.
Make sure the band is secure. Separate a small strand of hair from the top of the ponytail. And spray it with a setting spray designed to be used with a curling iron. Spray the strand lightly and curl it with a medium sized curling iron. Arrange the curl toward the front of the band. Secure it with a hidden bobby pin.
Create a curl with a hidden bobby pin by allowing the curl to stand up off the head and sliding the bobby pin through the bottom of the curl securing it to the head. The bobby pin is then hidden inside the curl.
Continue by repeating the procedure with another strand of hair and then another. Curl the strands around the perimeter of the style first and then fill in the center, building the shape of the style. Some of the curls may not be in a position that they are easily secured with the bobby pins. Make sure that these are firmly curled – using the heat set lotion and then keep them in place with hair spray.
For extremely long or extremely heavy hair, divide the hair into two or three large sections. Secure each with a covered elastic band. Create the curls around each band and join the sections together creating one beautiful updo.
An updo created in this way is secure and elegant enough to wear to a wedding or a prom.
