Book Review: Start Your Own Home Business In No Time
If you could see my dog-eared, well-worn, copy of this book, you’d know that I enjoyed it and found it to be an important, must have for anyone thinking about launching out on her own. When I read the title: Start Your Own Home Business. . .In No Time. I thought: how is that possible? One thing that I know for sure, is that it takes time to start a business. It takes time to decide what type of business you want to go into, to do the research, to write the plan and to do all of the other necessary tasks.
It may be more fitting to say that this book will help you start your business in less time. In my opinion that makes this a very valuable resource. It’s ideal for those just starting out and for those who are already in the process. You will find checklist and quick view notes that are easy to understand and apply.
One of the biggest challenges business owners face is the race with the clock. There never seems to be enough time to get it all done. Carol Anne Carroll’s book takes the intimidation factor out of getting started. It’s designed in an easy to read format and takes the reader through a step-by-step process.
Here are a few tips that stood out as I read through the book:
Use Professionals to Help You Market Your Business
This is so important. Most of us think that we have to do it all ourselves. Thank goodness that there’s help available.
Don’t Devalue Your Business
According to the book, discounts should be used in special circumstances; or to tide you over during a slow period.
How to Deal With Early Stage Growth
This is a challenge that is both affirming and overwhelming. With early growth comes the nod that you need, to know you are going in the right direction. However, it can also quickly increase the workload. This is an important issue that is addressed with very practical suggestions.
Reading Start Your Own Home Business. . .In No Time, should be a first step in the planning process. Not only does this book point you in the right direction, it takes the guessing work out of the whole process. This is another must have for your business library.
