Urusei Yatsura
Urusei Yatsura is an anime based on a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi.
Urusei Yatsura is set on a slightly fantastical and surreal version of Earth, and the series focuses on a group of teenagers who live in Tomobiki (which is located in the Nerima ward of Tokyo). The story opens with a lecherous and unlucky high school student named Ataru Moroboshi being warned that bad luck is in store if he heads from home. As he walks toward his house, he is suddenly grabbed by a group of men and taken into a car.
Ataru is driven to his home, and he discovers the leader of a group of oni aliens there. It turns out that Ataru's name was randomly chosen by a computer to compete in a game of tag against an oni representative. The representative is Lum, the oni alien leader's bikini-clad daughter. The game lasts for 10 days, and Ataru must grab Lum's horns by the end of the 10th day. If Ataru wins, the aliens will leave.
As the game begins, Ataru quickly learns that Lum can fly and easily outrun him. On the ninth day, as all hope seems lost, Ataru's girlfriend Shinobu promises to marry Ataru if he can catch Lum and save the planet. With newfound determination, Ataru goes to the game the next day, and uses a device to pull off Lum's bikini top. This tricks Lum into flying at him, and Ataru grabs her horns.
When he is declared the winner, Ataru exclaims, "Now I can finally marry her!" um misunderstands, and thinks Ataru has proposed to her. On Lum's world, marriage proposals are taken seriously. Lum falls in love with Ataru, Shinobu becomes jealous, and Ataru chases after every girl he sees.
Urusei Yatsura revolves around the triangle between Ataru, Lum, and Shinobu. This anime contains some nudity and elements that aren't appropriate for younger viewers. I would recommend Urusei Yatsura to anime viewers 16 or 17 years of age and older.
