May Regencies

May Regencies
Hello, and welcome back! I've reached the end of my May stack of releases, sadly, though I think I have a few more May books in my personal TBR pile. I'm very much looking forward to the June releases, however: Linda Howard, Nora Roberts, and several other favorite authors all have books coming out next month, which gives me at least one good reason to look forward to the beginning of summer--good reading material!

First up this time out is Jo Manning's Seducing Mr. Heywood (Signet Regency). Lady Sophia Rowley's late husband's edict that the vicar Charles Heywood is to be the guardian of their sons does not make her happy. Nor does his inelegant arrival. I found Sophia rather unlikable from the start, and was disinclined later in the story to make allowances for her earlier behavior, no matter what her past.

Next is The Marriage List (Signet Regency) by Dorothy McFalls, with Radford, Viscount Evers, deciding it's time to find a bride, despite his previous aversion to the idea. May Sheffers isn't at all what he has in mind either, but her own life has been none too pleasant, and she won't be bullied by Radford. To my mind, this one falls more squarely into the category of 'traditional Regency'.

Then we have the combined reissues of Margaret Evans Porter's Dangerous Diversion and Toast of the Town (Signet Regency), in case fans of the genre haven't yet got their hands on these two.

Amanda McCabe's first Regency historical is also here this week, Lady Midnight (Signet Eclipse). Katerina Bruni's unexpected arrival helps Micheal Lindley tremendously, though she has secrets that would hurt him as well as their burgeoning relationship if they were revealed. This one is sweet, with some interesting secondary characters, at least one of which could be a follow-up book if I guess correctly.

Until next time, happy reading!
