Berenstain Bears - Series
The Berenstain Bears series are written by Stan and Jan Berenstain. It is fun to see a family of bears tackling the same sort of challenges that every family deals with. They deal with school issues, neighborhood issues and many first experiences in a child’s life. They write on a variety of subjects that children will find in their own lives. Does your mother tell you are eating too much junk food? Are you watching too much TV? Is your room messy? These are some of the topics covered in the Berenstain Bear books.
The Berenstain Bear family lives in a tree house in Bear country. There are a Mama and Papa with two bear cubs, but later in they get a new sister. Brother and sister bear are between four and eight years of age - just like target readers.
These picture books can help a child learn to deal with feeling, they can open a discussion on something scary that might be coming up in their lives – a first trip to the dentist or the doctor are popular. They might help prepare for an upcoming move or going to camp.
These thirty-two page books are full of humor, usually with Papa Bear usually does something funny.
