Choosing a Scent for Men
The intoxicating, sensual and aromatic scent of a man can leave you breathless. Let's face it, who doesn't want to cuddle up to someone that smells ... oh so good! When you step into the world of scents, be it cologne, perfumes or eau de toilette, you often think of women. In this space, there exist a world of sultry scent blends for men.
I sat down and had a chat with my son. I asked him what does he look for when choosing a scent for himself. He likes clean scents. I asked him what does that mean. For him, nothing over the top, especially for everyday use. Then he tells me, it kind of depends on his mood. His girlfriend told him she'd smelled this awesome scent for men and bought him a bottle. It was Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme. It's described as being inspired by the Mediterranean Sea, with notes of lemon, granny smith apple, bergamot, Sichuan pepper and American musk wood. He loves it and I must admit, he smell really nice when he wears it.
Then one of his friends told him that he'd gone out with the fellows in New York and women were going wild over the scent he was wearing. It was Tom Ford's 'Oud Wood'. So he purchased a bottle, wore it around his girlfriend and she loves it. On the higher end of the scale of pricing, 'Oud Wood' is his Special Occasion scent. So, I asked if he purchased scents for his own personal liking or to get comments from other people about how great he smells? He said: "both actually, but I've really got to like it first."
The thing about scents, it that they have to "Work" with your body chemistry. What smells wonderfully delicious on one person can wreak of urine on another. My son has been lucky. His body chemistry is one that can carry a lot of different scent blends and smell really good on him.
As with women, men's scents are being custom made these days, so that they can experience the pure natural aroma of a blend. Some of you will want to create a blend for your special guy. If that's the case, here's how simple it can be.
Men’s Cologne
10 drops of Sandalwood essential oil
10 drops of Bergamot essential oil
10 drops of Cypress essential oil
1 cup 70 percent alcohol or Vodka
Directions:
In a glass Cologne spray bottle, combine all the essential oils. Then add the Vodka or alcohol . Not both. Label your container and allow it to marry for a few days. You can also just add the essential oils to the container and allow them to marry before you add the Vodka or alcohol. This will give you an indication of whether or not you like the blend or feel the need to add more of a particular essential oil to your blend.
Yes ladies, your men like to smell good too! Give them the gift of scent, anytime of the year. That’s it for this week.
