Helichrysum, Beauty Oil for Your Skin
I was going through my essential oils the other day, checking inventory to see what needed to be replenished. There's a certain section where I keep what I like to call precious jewels. These "precious jewels" are oils like Rose Otto, Jasmine Sambac, Neroli and Helichrysum, to name a few. On this particular day, Helichrysum spoke louder than any of the other oils. So I asked, What’s your message? What am I to learn from you?
While Helichrysum is the botanical name for this oil, it is known as Immortelle or Everlasting to a lot of you. Did you know that at one time, Immortelle was considered a medicinal plant? It's been used in treatments for chronic ailment, especially for the skin, lymph system and mucous membrane not to mention liver, kidney and gall bladder support. When treating severe acne, blended with chamomile, yarrow and bergamot, it helps in treating the condition.
Helichrysum helps in treating skin conditions such as sunburn, acne, couperose and rosacea as well as hyper pigmentation. Extremely beneficial to maturing skin, it's known to boost collagen. It's an anti inflammatory, anti viral and bactericide oil.
Immortelle/Helichrysum has been known to prevent sunburn. Go figure! If you've made your way into the sun without this beautiful oil, no worries. You can whip up a blend for after sun care.
