Cleaning the Vehicle for a Road Trip

Cleaning the Vehicle for a Road Trip
Going on a road trip should be fun. Make the most of your road tripping experience by preparing your vehicle ahead of time and setting some rules for the road. Follow these 4 tips for a more enjoyable road trip for you!

First, you want to start off with a clean vehicle. Take your time to get it right. By having a clean vehicle it automatically sets the "cleanliness" tone for all of the occupants. Make sure you clean out anything that doesn't belong: trash, clothes, toys, etc. Take extra time to wipe everything down - use a baby wipe or damp cloth. Then, end with a good vacuum. This will really get your trip starting off on a great foot. There is nothing better than riding in a clean vehicle.

Next, you will want to get some trash sacks to keep on hand. By having your trash bags ready - it will make it a lot easier to clean when you stop for gas, stop at a rest stop, stop to eat, etc. Make it a rule that you keep things cleaned up. People are less likely to just drop trash on the floor when you have garbage bags. Make it handy for everyone and make sure everyone knows!

Then, feel free to grab a deodorizer. Make sure you don't get one that will overpower the entire vehicle. Remember you will need to breath. The longer your trip the more important this can become, especially if you have people with less than pleasant foot odor. Another good tip is to have a fold away box that can hold extra items for storing. This will keep things up off the floor and give everyone more foot room.

Finally, set some ground rules for the trip. This could include only drinking clear type drinks in the vehicle (especially helpful for young children). The Trash in Trash Out rule is a good one. Whatever you bring in, you are responsible for removing. This leaves the burden of cleaning and keeping things clean on EVERYONE and not just the car owner.

No matter where you are going, make it a great trip by following these 4 simple rules. Happy Road Tripping all year long!

Make it a great one!
