Cherry Blossom Motif 1 - Hye-oon Lee
Spring is filled with color. From the new leaves to the tiny flower buds, there is color everywhere. Among my favorite spring flowers is the cherry blossom. Special to me because we were married overseas during the Cherry Blossom Festival. The parks are filled with blossom watching parties and picnics. A lovely time for families and for lovers.
I recently was introduced to Hye-oon Lee who has published a tatting book, Lovely Tatting: Doilies for Spring and Summer. She is sharing this pattern from the book, the Cherry Blossom Motif. She mentioned that she and her family visit the University of Washington each spring to see the trees in full bloom. The light pink cherry blossom petals were the inspiration behind this motif.

Hye-oon Lee started tatting while raising her two daughters as a stay-at-home mom. Within a year of learning how to tat, she started designing her own patterns. Most of her design inspiration comes from nature, and she is particularly fond of flowers. She runs a blog, www.lovelytatting.com, where she shares some her latest designs and ideas. There are patterns for free download and she does sell other patterns.
It is a lovely book, be sure to look for it on your favorite tatting supplier's website. I was delighted to receive it from her as a gift.
